Prague, Easter 2013

We went to Prague, Czech Republic, over Easter weekend at the end of March.  Prague was a beautiful city with a charming feel.  The historical center was compact and manageable, which was good for us because I was pretty pregnant by now.  The Vltava River cuts through the city, with most of the Old Town historical center on one side, and the castle on the other side.  We stayed on the side with the castle.

Standing on the 15th century Charles Bridge, looking toward Old Town.  There are black towers at each end of the bridge.

Standing on the Charles Bridge, looking upriver.  It was so cold our entire time in Prague.  We were in double and triple layer clothes, with Ben all tucked up in blankets.  This was my only winter coat that still zipped over my belly.  At least the sun did come out for a few minutes here and there.

Prague Castle as seen from the river, our first night in Prague.  The castle is the largest ancient castle in the world.  The white buildings stretching across include the royal palace, and the 14th century gothic St. Vitus Cathedral is in the center, where we went to Mass on Easter.

Since it was Easter season, they had an Easter Market set up in the very center.  There were booths selling Easter decorations and food, similar to a Christmas Market.

There was also a booth with animals.
These were the traditional desserts.  Rolled up, sugared, baked bread, called Trdlo.  Ben and I loved them, Tim preferred the beer!  They did have some really good beer.  And it was cheap; when we ordered drinks with dinner, Tim's beer was usually cheaper than my water.

The Gothic Church of Our Lady before Tyn from the 14th century, overlooking the center (and the Easter decorations).

A really pretty church, I think it was St. Nicholas.
 Cute little water wheel.

Cheers!!
