Pre-Move

When we were seven months pregnant with Ben, we were presented with the opportunity to take a 3-year work assignment at our company's sister office just outside Milan, Italy.  We knew it was a great opportunity, for us and for our careers, so we had to say yes.  We have always wanted to see Europe, and this would be a great way to do it!  We knew we would miss everybody back in the States, and we wanted to give all of you an opportunity to see what we are doing over here.

We came over in October to pretend that we were on House Hunters International.  We decided on a town called Gallarate, because it is close to work, and  our American coworker and his wife live there and love it.  We looked at several apartments, and found the perfect one!  It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms with showers, kitchen (though small), living room, dining room, and a storage closet (rare).  In the basement, we have a box (one car garage) and a cantina (storage room).  You can see the Alps from our balcony.

We did a lot of walking around Gallarate.  It was colder than we expected, so we had to buy Ben an Italian hat.

We attended mass at the church in the center of Gallarate.

We did one day of touristy sight-seeing.  We took the train to the Duomo in Milan. And tried gelato for the first time. Loved it!
